Further update: 13/03/2020
As the spread of Covid-19 is changing on a day-by-day basis, GCL International has extended the steps it is taking from a country-specific basis to a worldwide basis (including the United Kingdom).
Original News Item: 03/03/2020
Together with our stakeholders and regulators, GCL International is continuing to monitor government and other external advice to assess the risks following the outbreak and spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19). As a result, GCL International has taken necessary precautionary measures which will impact overseas certification audits that would normally take place in some affected areas.
GCL International has developed a monitoring and risk assessment policy which will be updated based on international and government information and guidance – this policy is primarily focussed on the prevention of spread of infection. On this basis our decision is to implement this policy until the end of May 2020.
During this period we are considering alternative methods of auditing within the affected areas and this is on a case-by-case basis. Where possible, we will be considering conducting audits on a remote basis using computer assisted techniques such as video links, Skype, etc. We may also if necessary consider the delay of some audits with a view of catching-up later in the year.
These measures have been put in place to ensure the health and safety of GCL International personnel. We are continuing to monitor government and other external advice to assess the risk and will provide further updates the situation develops.
Your local office representative will be in touch if our policy requires any adjustment to your audits in accordance with these measures.
